EarlySounds Keepsake Recorder How do I transfer the recording to my computer?
For computers using Microsoft Windows XP
1. To download the recording to a PC,
insert one end of the provided cable into the
2. Using operating system Windows XP on your PC select the Sound Recorder Application by selecting: START MENU | PROGRAMS | ACCESSORIES | ENTERTAINMENT | SOUND RECORDER. (Note: If Sound Recorder is not in the above location select: START MENU | RUN, and type SNDREC32 and press ENTER). 3. Click on the (RECORD) button in the Sound Recorder Application to start recording.4. Press the (PLAY) button on the EarlySounds.5. If the green sound line in the Sound Recorder Application is straight or flat, the recorder input is not selected properly. Go to step 6. Otherwise go to step 9.6. Close the Sound Recorder Application. To choose the proper input, open the VOLUME CONTROL Application by selecting: START MENU | PROGRAMS | ACCESSORIES | ENTERTAINMENT | VOLUME CONTROL. (Note: If Volume Control is not in the above location select: START MENU | RUN, and type SNDVOL32 and press ENTER).7. In the VOLUME CONTROL Application click on Options menu and then Properties. Select RECORDING and ensure that the LINE IN and MICROPHONE boxes are checked, and then click OK.8. Restart the Sound Recorder Application and record as directed in steps 2-4 above.9. When the sound from the EarlySounds stops, click on the (STOP) button in the Sound Recorder Application. The file can be played back on the PC by clicking the (PLAY) button in the Sound Recorder or the file can be saved by selecting FILE | SAVE AS to name and choose file location.

For computers using Apple/MAC OS9 or earlier

computer, insert one end of the provided cable into the
2. On your computer, open the SimpleSound application that is typically found in the Apple Menu. If you are unable to locate the application in the Apple Menu, perform a FIND for SIMPLESOUND.3. When you open SimpleSound, an AlertSounds box may be shown. Select File and then New to open a new audio file.4. Click on the highlighted RECORD icon in SimpleSound to start recording.5. Press the ► (PLAY) button on the EarlySounds. The audio should now be playing and the computer downloading the audio information as indicated by sound waves from the Speaker icon.6. If there are no sound waves from the Speaker icon while you are hearing the audio from the EarlySounds, then the computer input may not be selected properly. Return to the Apple Menu and open the Control Panel. Open the Sound Application and select Input. Select external Mic as the built-in sound source.7. The computer is now set up to use the EarlySounds as an input. Restart the SimpleSound Application and record as directed in step 3.8. When the EarlySounds playback is finished, click the STOP icon in SimpleSound. The file can be played back by clicking the PLAY icon in SimpleSound or the file can be saved by selecting SAVE to name and choose file location.9. Refer to your computer User Manual for problems associated with the sound card or Simple Sound Application.

For computers using Apple/Mac OS X or later
Unfortunately, Apple decided to do away with the SimpleSound application for OSX and later operating systems. However, some users have embedded OS9 in their Apples. If you are able to run OS9 you may follow the directions below to transfer your recording to your computer. If, however, you cannot run OS9 you may download a free recorder here.
